Guest guest
Hi, my name is Angela and I recently joined the breakfast list. Today was my fifth day of breakfasts, so far so good! I am a vegetarian, so I was glad to learn of this group. I would love to hear some of your favorite breakfasts, or other meals as I don't necessarily only eat breakfast type foods in the morning. Thanks! Angela
Guest guest
Hi Angela, welcome! For breakfast I usually eat a big bowl of oatmeal, a little fruit (berries, usually), and a variety of proteins: sometimes cottage cheese, sometimes eggs, sometimes protein powder mixed into the oats or mixed in almond milk, sometimes mashed up tofu with spices and heated in a skillet. I also eat dinner-type things, sometimes leftovers. I don't like strong flavors at breakfast, so what I have is generally kind of bland. Congratulations on 5 days of breakfast! Guest guest
Thanks for the welcome Cinzia! It seems like oatmeal is a common food choice for a lot of folks. Does the instant kind work as well as the longer cooking version as a " brown " ? -Angela , " cinziatre " <cmarchesani wrote: > > Hi Angela, welcome! > > For breakfast I usually eat a big bowl of oatmeal, a little fruit > (berries, usually), and a variety of proteins: sometimes cottage > cheese, sometimes eggs, sometimes protein powder mixed into the oats > or mixed in almond milk, sometimes mashed up tofu with spices and > heated in a skillet. > > I also eat dinner-type things, sometimes leftovers. Guest guest
Hi Angela, Welcome! For breakfast I usually make a protein shake using unsweetened chocolate almond milk, ice, a bit of banana, and the Restore protein powder sold in the RR store. On the side I usually have spelt toast or a spelt bagel. In the winter I sometimes have an omelet with cheese and either spelt toast or a bowl of oatmeal for my brown. Guest guest
Good question! I've never actually used instand oatmeal, so I can't say. I really like the chewiness of thick rolled oats or steel-cut oats. Go ahead and try the instant and see how it goes. And report back here if you like -- it'd be interesting to see what you find. For steel-cut, I begin preparation each evening. I put them in my little saucepan with water and some spices and bring to a boil. Then turn it down and let it simmer for 5 minutes or so. Then I cover it, turn off the heat, and leave until morning. In the a.m. I heat it up and cook for maybe a couple of minutes. Works really well (I don't have a microwave). Some people use baby oats in their shake, so I think instant would be good that way too. We LOVE breakfast around here, and we all do it, so we never seem to run out of ideas and suggestions, LOL. Guest guest
Thanks Tina, I have just discovered the unsweetened choc almond milk due to reading the lists, it's very nice! That sounds like a yummy shake. I just ordered the Restore, and I am excited to try it. I have some good unsweetened protein powders, but they all have cover up flavors that make it difficult to do anything with fruit, or keep the food on the neutral side. I am looking forward to experimenting with it. -Angela , Tina Castronovo <tcastronovo18 wrote: > > Hi Angela, > > Welcome! > > For breakfast I usually make a protein shake using unsweetened chocolate almond milk, ice, a bit of banana, and the Restore protein powder sold in the RR store.
