Guest guest
Awesome! Lentils are one of my favorites and staples. And how great to conjure up some Thanksgiving memories! john wilson <radiantjw Sunday, September 7, 2008 10:54:24 AM cooked lentils Just wanted to share my excitemnet over cooking some lentils yesterday. i bought these uncokked lentils from the store but then wasn't quite sure what to do with them. I got a good, quick way to do it from Mel over on the radiant forum. I fired some onion in oil and put in the lentils covered in water. i cooked them like this over medium heat for about 45 mins. it worked great. and afterwards my kitchen kind of smelled like thanksgiving dinner. Hard to describe really, but it just brought me back to that memory. -John
Guest guest
It's so great to follow you on your cooking adventures, John! I adore lentils, love the flavors and texture. My body really likes them. They're good as cold salads, too (I like them with a bit of feta cheese and some veggies, with a vinaigrette-type dressing). They're so versatile and yummy. Can't wait to hear what's next for you <smile>. Guest guest
John, I am excited as well! I was inspired by you and Mel. I made a batch of puy lentils, and made several different salads. red lentils arent so great for me, in that they dont hold me to well. But puy lentils go into the beans-league for stayong power for me. they give me energy really. How did you feel with them? mosaic

Guest guest
There are so many lentils to explore! I especially like the tiny green French/Puy lentils and the tiny black Belugas. And the basic brown/green disc-shaped ones that I used to think were the only ones in existence, LOL. The various split peas are also so nice. The yellow channa dal suits me best; the green and pink not as much. I haven't played with the brown masoor or some of the other varieties. Mmmmm, now I want Indian food... Guest guest
LOl! I love how much you know about food. You know mentioning indian food made me realize that lentils are a big part of that cuisine, am I right? I am remembering also Ethiopian food and going to an ethiopian restaurant awhile back. The veggies that were spread around were sooooo good, and i remember eating lentils. I'd love to have that again. I'd imagine the mushy, airy bread that I had wasn't program friendly. But, whatever it was it tasted great! -John , " cinziatre " <cmarchesani wrote: > > There are so many lentils to explore! > > I especially like the tiny green French/Puy lentils and the tiny > black Belugas.
