Hi everyone:

Have been vegetarian and vegan in the past.

Right now am including dairy & eggs, poultry and fish.

Am interested in vegetarian protein replacements for above, that agree

with me.

Looking forward to learning from everyone.

Hi Rae, welcome to the list!  Have you poked around our files

section, yet? There is a great list of protein sources.  I've been experimenting

with tempeh recently.  I'm not too sure about the flavor yet, but I love

the texture.  I made these reuben sandwhiches that JoEllen suggested with whole

wheat bread, tempeh, swiss cheese, saurkraut, tomato and mayo and then toasted

them in my George Foreman grille, that was a nice change of pace and a nice

amount of protein.

Hi Rae!

I am new to this group too! We can learn together! I love cottage

cheese, you can make it savory (hot sauce) or sweet (fruit) and Tempeh

is good too!

I am currently eating dairy, eggs, poultry and fish too! I think the

poultry is going to be the first to go though - just not agreeing with

me anymore.

Blessings,

JJ

JJ I never thought of adding hot sauce to cottage cheese, hmm, add in some

chopped veggies and whole grained toast and that might be a nice meal!

Hi Rae,

I've been using brown rice protein, along with beans and soy for my

protein. The rice protein (you can also find soy protein) is somewhat,

but not totally flavorless :(, but it's bearable in oatmeal and

shakes. I too would love to wean off poultry, but it IS difficult. I

eat canned beans and I guess my stomach has adjusted, LOL, so no issues

there. I have heard if you cook and eat your own beans, soaking them

longer before you cook them helps that gassiness they can cause.

Welcome, Rae! Nice to have you here.

Can you remind me what step you're on? I'm not sure if I know <smile>.

I think your " weaning " approach is a good idea. Baby steps are so

much kinder to our bodies than quick, dramatic changes (ask me how I

know, LOL!).
