Guest guest
Hi John, I haven't found a meatless version I like, the texturized vegetable protein messes with my stomach almost as much as beef. I have found some turkey sausage (breakfast and bratwurst) don't give me issues as much. Let us know if you find a meatless one that's good, I'd like to try it too! Guest guest
Hey John, The one veggie sausage I've liked is made with seitan (wheat gluten). It's made by Field Roast, and the flavor is smoked apple sage. The other flavors have wine in them, so I avoid those. For people earlier in the steps, these sausages might work. The package comes with 4 sausages, and it's in the refrigerated section of the market (usually near the seitan, tofu, etc.). I've found that most veggie sausages have some sweetener in them, so I read labels. Being on step 7, I avoid just about all sweeteners and alcohol (and white flour). Hope this helps, Cinzia , " john wilson " <radiantjw wrote: > > here's a question. > the other day i bought a reg. beef sausage at the store and it didn't agree with me. > has anyone found a good meat substitute sausage that they like? > The meatless sausage? > > -John >
Guest guest
cinzia- Alright! The seitan won't work b/c of my wheat allergy. but i'll keep my eyes open for different varieties of vegg sausage. -john , " cinziatre " <cmarchesani wrote: > > Hey John, > > The one veggie sausage I've liked is made with seitan (wheat gluten). > It's made by Field Roast, and the flavor is smoked apple sage. Guest guest
JJ- i foubd some veg sausages today from Veggie Patch. they were jalapeno and cheddar and soy protein with wheat gluten. I hesitated b/c of the wheat gluten but wanted to see how my body felt. the sausages tasted pretty good i thought and no adverse effects. -John , " jjames1010 " <jjames1010 wrote: > > Hi John, > I haven't found a meatless version I like, the texturized vegetable > protein messes with my stomach almost as much as beef. > I have found some turkey sausage (breakfast and bratwurst) don't give > me issues as much. > > Let us know if you find a meatless one that's good, I'd like to try it > too! > JJ > > , " john wilson " > <radiantjw@> wrote: > > > > here's a question. > > the other day i bought a reg. beef sausage at the store and it didn't > agree with me. > > has anyone found a good meat substitute sausage that they like? > > The meatless sausage? > > > > -John > > >
Guest guest
Thanks, John, I will see if I can find it! Jalapeno and cheddar sounds right up my alley! JJ " Your food shall be your remedy. Guest guest
I decided to get some of those gluten-based sage & apple sausages this weekend. I hadn't eaten them in probably a year or so. And you know what? They were too sweet for me! I ate one but will not eat the rest. It didn't make me crave anything or feel emotionally bad or irritable (which is what sugar does to me), but I didn't like the taste. My reaction was, " Ick! Sweet! " It still surprises me sometimes that I actually *don't* like most sweet tastes now. I baked some winter squash, and it was right on the edge for me (sweetness-wise). Any sweeter and I wouldn't have enjoyed it. And I ate it totally plain, nothing on it. I wouldn't have believed it if you had told me this 2 years ago!
