planning for work events

So today we are having a work event where lunch is provided. The

organizer was really thoughtful, called me up because she heard I was a

vegetarian and wanted to confirm. I told her yes I was and since she

is getting sandwiches could she please order mine on whole wheat? Well

what do you know, of course she can :). Now on the flip side I'm well aware

that vegetarian sandwiches are

typically just veggies on bread, with an occasional slice of cheese. So

I decided that I will bring some protein powder, almond milk, and my

shaker bottle to have right before the event. I'd take it with me

except I have to wash that thing right away or the shake remnants turn

to glue LOLOL. I also bought this shaker bottle just to keep at work

in case of events like this again, and I'll have a container of almond

milk and some protein powder to keep here " just in case " :)

Nice planning, Heather!

Yah, vegetarian foods are usually white pasta or white bread and

vegetables. Sometimes cheese. I'm always amazed that even high-end

restaurants often have no clue about vegetarian protein. I wonder if

they think that vegetarians just don't do protein.

It was thoughtful of the organizer to contact you; I always

appreciate that.

I keep a microwaveable vegetarian meal in my desk at work (I get it

at Trader Joe's, doesn't need refrigeration). I also have a couple

cans of split pea or lentil soup in the cupboard at work. Haven't

thought of keeping one of my blender bottles there -- that's a great

idea!!
