Guest guest
I spent a good part of the holiday today cooking for the work week. I had been wanting to try a few new things lately and looked up some recipe to use as guides. I love cooking, it's a creative outlet for me, and since I started using bentos I've been looking more into Japanese recipes. I first attempted to make tamagoyaki--which is simply a rolled omlet. In sushi restaurants it's rectangles of egg on top of rice. I found a recipe and altered it to not have sugar, wine, or fish broth which is the typical style. It didn't come out as pretty as the stuff in the restaurants but I was pretty happy with the texture and taste . I also wanted to make onigiri, which are pressed rice balls that typically have a surprise filling. For this attempt I made some TVP with chili sauce. Well, that didn't work out so well so I started to mix them together to do something else with them and I realized the texture was now perfect for the rice balls, so I went ahead and just made them anyways LOL. I think they look pretty all orange from the chili sauce. I packaged them with sesame kale, baby bel cheese, cashews, and a seitan mushroom stir fry. I put a picture up in the photos section if you'd like to see Heather There are two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle. --Albert Einstein
