Guest guest
Breakfast is going OK. One problem came up with breakfast today. I got up at 3 am. Had 1/2 cup of nuts and 1 helping of " wheat thins " . went to sleep at 5. Got up at 7 and ran to work. I could have my breakfast at 10am, browns, beans and carrots. Again at 3pm had lunch, only beans and vegetables and 1 packet of potato wafers. 6.30 pm I had one slice of chocolare cake-1 full piece. Reached home at 8.45 pm. At 9 I had full dinner. Browns, proeteins(yogurt, cottage cheese, beans and vegetables. + half cup of cashews. Is this OK? Thanks for your suggestion of protein snack if i get up in he night. I would rather have hot milk and sugar instead of snack. Is it OK? I had a haircut. My face is looking much neater now. So nice that Next time I will have haircut sooner. ________________________________ Janine Acevedo <janine Thursday, 12 March, 2009 2:32:54 PM Re: time gap between dinner and sweet potato. Hi Kiran, How is breakfast going? :-) Regarding sweet potato timing, when you are on that step, here is my thinking... Can you have your dinner just a bit earlier? Can you make your sweet potato earlier, too, so that you have ready to eat just before you go to bed? At 9pm are you in bed, reading? You could have your sweet potato right by you to eat just before you sleep. At 1am or 2am if I wake up I need a little snack with complex carbohydrates and protein. Guest guest
Hi Kiran- One of the key components of step 1 is having breakfast within 1 hour of waking. So since you got up at 7am, breakfast would need to be eaten by 8am. I encourage you to find a way to make breakfast your top priority and you will start to feel even better!! The 4 components to breakfast are: *Every day *Within an hour of waking up *With enough protein for your body (take your weight in pounds and divide by 6 - that is how many protein grams you need, approximately) *With a serving of a complex carbohydrate/brown (separate from your protein) Many people focus on one part of breakfast, and then work on integrating that. Then once they have that settled, do another component. Tina On Fri, Mar 13, 2009 at 4:33 AM, Kiran Agarwal <kiranagarwal2wrote: > Breakfast is going OK. One problem came up with breakfast today. Guest guest
Hi, I'm glad you are posting about how it is going for you! My suggestion is keep on focusing on breakfast and not worrying about other meals, timing, and so on. Just simply, wonderfully: breakfast. Within an hour of getting up in the morning. Breakfast with protein. Ah, breakfast! Janine On Mar 13, 2009, at 1:33 AM, Kiran Agarwal wrote: > Breakfast is going OK. One problem came up with breakfast today. I > got up at 3 am. Guest guest
I have a question for the more experienced - if you get up at 3 am and have a snack just a few hours before you have to wake up anyhow, isn't your body viewing the snack as breakfast (it sounds like the snack had the complex carb and protein combo that needs to be included in breakfast -kudos on the snack)? Or is the snack potentially getting in the way of the body being ready for breakfast 4 hours later? Also Tina thank you for pointing out that its ok to work on integrating one component then another, because thats what I'm trying to focus on and its helpful to hear (more on that in a separate post). I was worried that if I'm not striving to meet all 4 goals at once in the breakfast portion that its as if I wasn't meeting any of them. , Tina Castronovo <tinacastronovo wrote: > > Hi Kiran- > > One of the key components of step 1 is having breakfast within 1 hour of > waking. Guest guest
Hi Juana- If I wake up in the middle of the night and have a snack, I do not count it as breakfast. If my blood sugar is crashing in the night the snack is really only addressing that. I still need a full meal when I wake up in the morning. It is really important that I don't shortchange how much I eat - it is key for my steadiness! And yes - always take your time! We are big on baby steps (or nano steps as we've been calling them lately!) here.
