Guest guest
I've been using peanutbutter and cheese as my protein alot. I don't know that it is keeping me really stable emotionally. Can anyone suggest a really dense veg.protein? I am eating fish and eggs. I was also using a lot of soy and am trying to not eat that either. I have PMS right now and am dealing with some stessful stuff at home. Would it be wise to increase protein? I am working on step 3. Guest guest
Hi Laurie, have you checked out the protein list yet? It's in the files section of this list. Off the top of my head, I can come up with one standard veg protein that I've had success with--gluten. Have you tried it? heather There are two ways to live your life. Guest guest
Laurie, I've made a lot of easy meals with seitan. Stir fries are a favorite . Veggies, seitan, sesame oil, ginger and veggies over brown rice, yum! Heather There are two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. Guest guest
Hi Laurie, It sounds like stuff is going on in addition to food - maybe seeing if there is a way to reduce stress or an outlet for you to express it (exercise, writing, calgon take me away) can help in addition to protein focus.....? There are other beans that carry a decent amount of protein - lentils, chick peas (garbanzo), black beans, etc that might work for you if soybeans are not working for you. Also if you do try to incorporate soybeans - perhaps edamame might be more digestible than soybean products. If you eat fish there is no reason you can't do that at breakfast time. Also whole nuts and seeds can be added to things - say add a few pumpkin seeds to your oatmeal to increase protein quantity. And eggs work as well. > > > > ____________ _________ _________ __ > > lauriezoe <laurieseidman@ ...> > > > > Tuesday, March 17, 2009 9:46:59 AM > > dense veg. protein > > > > > > I've been using peanutbutter and cheese as my protein alot. Guest guest
Hi Laurie, Some people don't digest peanut butter well. I would look for sunflower seed butter or almond butter and try those? Peanuts are a legume, while sunflower seeds and almonds are seeds/nuts that have more essential fatty acids and will help with stress. Same for cheese -- maybe try different varieties? I do better on the lighter ones like feta, mozzarella, ricotta... Since you do eat fish, I would try that more regularly than the peanut butter or cheese? When I am craving dense protein, a good piece of fish really helps. If you are tending towards peanut butter and cheese, you might be craving good fats. Flax seeds are great for just about everything, and easy to throw into a smoothie. Also maybe re-read the section on supplements... your brain needs lots of vitamins and minerals to deal w/stress. You'll get those through the greens, especially dark leafy greens, especially organic, but a daily multivitamin (or " stresstab " ) will work wonders. Keep at it... for me there is a long period of boring numbness as I work the steps, until one day I notice that I feel like I'm on vacation! My hormones are finally balanced and that's NORMAL! Guest guest
Ah, well part of the unhealed sugar sensitive brain means we jump around a lot and don't like focus.
