In my meat eating days they would work for a brown for me. But no longer LOL.

Lately I have been feeling more tired so I have been looking into eating extra

protein to see if that helps. I'm training for a triathlon, and although I'm

eating more food overall I wonder about protein for muscle building. The past

few days I've made an extra effort to pay attention to protein and feel much

better! Typically I aim for 80 grams of protein a day, but with the training I

thought I'd focus on a minimum of 100.

Breakfast is always great, I have shake and get at least 30 grams of protein

there. Lunches so far have been a homemade Cincinnati chili with Quorn crumbles

and beans, brown rice as my brown and green beans. I get a good 25 grams of

protein there. Adding cheese bumps it up over 30. Dinners have been eggs with a

side of protein shake for extra protein to get me to 35 grams (with various

browns and veggies). For snacks during the day (and I need at least one snack,

usually 2 with all the training) I've been having a sugar free soy jerquee, goat

milk yogurt, or goat milk cheese with crackers. Today for lunch I have a slice

of homemade pizza, it's low in protein, only 10 grams, so I brought some pea

protein isolate protein powder and will add it to a bowl of spinach soup to get

my protein count up to 30. Haven't decided on dinner yet, but it will probably

be eggs and a small shake with brown rice cereal and fresh green beans :). I

love how much better

I'm feeling and will keep up with the extra protein!

I have only ever counted beans as protein, never as a brown.

steadier when I only count things like beans as either brown or protein, but not

both. It usually takes a bit of experimenting to figure out what your body

needs. Jessica, how are you doing with breakfast? It is my favorite meal these

days, I like to have a shake with rice protein powder, whey protein powder,

vitamin powder, cocoa powder, flax oil, almond milk and a piece of banana.

Sounds like a lot of ingredients but it comes together quickly :)
