Guest guest
Hi everyone, I've been busy the past few weekends, which is when I usually do some of my cooking for the week. So I've been looking for very quick and easy ways to make meals. One thing I did last weekend and this, was to cook tofu in some water with tamari (soy sauce) and a little sesame oil. I just cubed the tofu, dumped it in the water/broth (enough to just cover the tofu), and heated. Brought it to an easy boil, turned it down and let it simmer for several minutes. The longer it goes, the more the flavor gets into the tofu. When I was ready to eat, I just turned off the burner and fished out the tofu. I like fresh cilantro, so I chopped some and mixed it with the tofu. Put it over brown rice and had some nice veggies with it -- easy, tasty meal! One other time I used some concentrated veggie broth instead of the tamari and sesame oil. That was good, too, though I prefer the tamari version. Of course, you could marinate the tofu in just about anything you like! This was a quick way to use plain tofu, and I didn't need to think about it beforehand, LOL! cheers, Cinzia
Guest guest
Very grateful to you Cinzia for writing this out. I have my first ever packet of tofu in the freezer waiting to be defrosted and squeezed and now I have the next steps as well <smile> I'm sure I'll get the courage up to try it soon - it seems kind of alien LOL Jaki - cinziatre Monday, August 10, 2009 4:46 AM An easy tofu preparation Hi everyone, I've been busy the past few weekends, which is when I usually do some of my cooking for the week.
