Breakfast suggestions please?

Hi,

I am new to this and have been doing Step one for a few weeks. I have been

reaching the right protein level but including the protein in my carbs. I have

just realised this is not quite 'right'!

I would welcome any suggestions for breakfasts, excluding protein powders or

shakes, as I am on a pretty tight budget. If need be I will get some of the

products but I would really like ideas for what to eat apart from those.

(I do eat fish.)

Thanks, Catherine

Catherine I am also on a tight budget now I am retired but I find buying whey

protein isolate in bulk works out to be cost effective.

I'd rather have the pp from the store but the exchange rate is against me at

present so I use an internet supplier in the UK. A 2kg pack lasts me 3 months

and works out about £6.00 per month. If you buy two at a time it reduces to

less than £5 per month.

Jaki, thanks so much for this. I am also in the UK so it is great not only to

hear from someone else here but also to find out about this protein isoltae. I

can certainly afford that price. I am reeling rather from thinking how I can eat

that much protein so this sounds excellent. I will look into it. What exactly do

you do with it?!!

Well we all have our own variations on our morning shake. I like mine pretty

plain so I get Rice'n'easy which isn't as sweet as most commercial rice milks

and I just shake it up in a mixer bottle which I got from Lakeland.

In addition to the shake I have two slices of very dense gf bread - usually

buckwheat or brown rice bread which I get from Artisan Originals and I have it

toasted. For a change or on winter mornings I make some cream of buckwheat and

have it with greek yogurt and a spoonful of fruit puree.

At the weekends I like bacon and eggs or sometimes cold chicken and ham with hot

cereal.

You can flavour your shake with almost anything you fancy and you'll get a

different answer no matter who you ask here LOL I know peanut butter and

unsweetened cocoa powder are favourites on the Brits list.

Thanks for the details of your breakfasts! Where do you get your whey protein

isolate from? Do you have any preferred flavour? I have never had any sort of

protein shake and it all seems a bit strange!

Oh my, now you've done it, Catherine -- you've asked about shake, LOLOL!

As Jaki and others will have said, we all have our quirky favo(u)rite recipes.

And we can talk for DAYS about it.

My recipes have gotten simpler since I've been on step 7 for a couple years now.

I use our very own Radiant Recovery whey protein isolate powder (called

Restore). I make my own vanilla rice milk, add some coffee flavoring, and

enough of the Restore for my protein needs, and shake it up! That's all, pretty

simple.

Sometimes I use cherry flavoring instead or unsweetened cocoa powder. Once in a

while I make almond milk and use that instead of the rice milk.

With my protein shake I usually have a bowl of porridge or cream of buckwheat.

I'll put a spoonful of ghee, creamed coconut, or nut butter in it. Yum!

I'm not a Brit but am a Brit-o-phile (the only real word I could think of is

Anglophile, and that seems to limit one, doesn't it?). Anyway, I'd love to be

considered an honourary Brit. I spent a wonderful 6 months living in London

many years ago as a student and am eager to return.

By the way, I too love chick peas and lentils and tofu. I haven't become

acquainted with Quorn, as I despise mushrooms. That just means more for you,

LOL! cheers, Cinzia
