Guest guest
i don't wanna interfere too much on this, but what's the difference between taking the effort to send an email to the list to ask if the owner can remove you or go to yourself and remove yourself ? It doesn't cost that much more energy u know? Besides.. How weird do you think it appears to read an email that says: Re: [veg-Recipes] recipes and it has a request for removal in it? i'm not sure what everyone else thinks about this, but i've seen it a couple of times now, and it's beginning to irritate me a bit. good luck with the unsubscribing. Guest guest
Hi, Samantha, I did a search for raw food recipies on Google and came up with literally 100's. Guest guest
I wanted to tell everyone that the library is a great source of new vegan recipes. The library where I live has tons of great vegetarian and vegan cookbooks and I can keep them FREE for three weeks. I use the library to the max and have gotten some great recipes! I usually check out about 4-5 cookbooks at a time, and make at least one dish from each of them before I return them. Gloria
Guest guest
Thats great gloria..I might do the same:) I go to my local library quite a bit but I haven't checked out any cookbooks yet. Luckily my mum has come up with some interesting vegan recipies..including some really nice vegan tablet. One of my favourite things to eat is so simple. I melt some dark chocolate and put it on a bannana:) I found these recipies, you may have seen them already but they're quite simple and look good so thought I'd share:) --------------------- MINI VEGAN PIZZAS Ingredients Whole Wheat Pitas Pizza or spagetti sauce onion, chopped Vegan mozzarella cheese (Tofutti or Vegan Rella brand) Pre-heat oven to 400° Take a couple pitas, place on cookie sheet. Spread sauce on them. Add the chopped onion and top with mozzarella. Cook for 5 -7 minutes or until everyting is hot. Slice and eat! -------------------------- VEGAN OATMEAL CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES Ingredients 1 cup soy margarine, softened 1 1/2 cups tightly packed brown sugar 1 cup table sugar 1 ripe, mashed banana 1 teaspoon vanilla 2 tablespoons water 1 3/4 cups all-purpose or whole-wheat flour 1 teaspoon baking powder stirred into the flour for guaranteed dispersion 2 1/2 cups rolled oats (quick oats work well) 2 1/2 cups vegan chocolate chips Beat together the margarine and sugars. Electric mixers are unnecessary. Add the well-mashed banana and mix well, then add the vanilla, then the water. The water will try to separate; keep mixing with a figure-eight motion and add the dry ingredients, in the order above, bit by bit (say, by half-cup increments). The final better should be almost too dry to hold the chocolate chips. Dry batter is good, since any chips that fall off the batter can go directly into your mouth and no one will miss them. Bake them for 9-10 minutes in a pre-heated, 375-degree oven on an ungreased cookie sheet. Cook them longer if you prefer a hard cookie, but be aware that bananas only approximate the action of an egg in the mix, and you can get cookies as hard as the cookie sheet if you aren't careful. Let them congeal on the sheet for a moment after removing them from the over, then cool on a plate or a wire rack. Store in an air-tight container. They taste even better after they sit overnight or in the fridge.

Guest guest
Thanks for suggesting it. I opened the file section to be accessed by all members and opened a file called " Recipes " . You can add your own folder as a sub folder now or create a complete new folder. Guest guest
I don't print off every recipe that I like or think I might use in the future. I have a " recipes " folder on the computer, with sub-folders sorting the recipes into categories and subcategories that work for me. When I see a recipe I like, I just copy and paste into WordPad and save it into the appropriate folder. Then when I am looking for a recipe down the line, I just check my folder or perform a search, and check it over. Usually I have several similar ones. I decide which one I want, and print it. If the recipe works out well, I put it into a folder in my kitchen for use next time. I also have a number of electronic recipe books saved that I can search. If I printed off every recipe that I save for the future, I would have to print a whole library. One of my electronic recipe books is 7000 recipes, and my recipes folder contains over 2500 files (some of which are collections/books rather than single recipes. Guest guest
All the recipes that are posted here are placed in the files. They are all in categories to make them easier to find and there is an index in every folder. There is an overall index but doesn't have all the recipes from the last few weeks. There is also a Contents list that shows all the categories and subcategories. You can get to the files from either the VGF home page or by clicking this link. Go to ***Recipes Posted to VGF*** and you'll find all the category folders. Kim PS. If you are soy free then those recipes have (SF) beside the name. Those that can be easily adapted to soy free have (*SF). , " ronnimike " <HISSPECIALTOUCH wrote: > > There are so many lovely recipes that appear on the board....are they > just put into the files...I can't afford to print them all...my > printer has to be one of those ones who needs the expensive stuff...so > I am a bit limited.... > > thanks >

Guest guest
There are soooo many recipes in the file section! I am glad for the SF tip, but basically for my son, everything is about taste. If it doesn't taste good, he spits it out. Does anyone know off the top of their heads if any of the recipes might be soy free and rice free, too? And anything that is pretty yummy in the respect of something even kids would go for? Guest guest
Here's a GFCF SF Rice-Free pancake: http://doinggfcfwithoutrice.blogspot.com/2009/02/like-bisquick-baby.html In our house, we use pancakes for lots of things other than sweet toppings, too. You can thin the batter to make a crepe-like wrap, you can make nice big ones without sweetener to use for sandwiches, make them a bit thicker/crispier and use them for mini-pizzas, etc. If you can find a pancake recipe you like, you are well on your way to happy kids. What else can he have or not have? We can give you tips on adapting recipes that don't work right off. We'll see what we can do to find you suitable and tasty substitutes. LaDonna
Guest guest
Oh, thanks millions, LaDonna! ) Well, there aren't many things he likes, I'm afraid! :o/ He likes chocolate (no surprise there) and can have that; he likes potatoes and can have them. Mostly mashed or in the form of fries. But he is used to having gravy, and without gluten, not sure how to accomplish that. May not be possible since I am wondering, do bullion cubes have gluten? Or are there GF ones? He likes sorbet. Lemons. Strawberries. Occasionally pineapple. Usually I can juice apple and carrot together and he will drink it. I would love to add more fruits to it, but doing organic, that gets soooo expensive! But yes, I should. He likes gummi bears, so I don't know if there is a healthy alternative out there that is made with some other sweetner? He technically cannot have cane sugar, but to tell you the truth, I have to " bribe " him with something good in order to get something nutritious in him. Mushrooms, tomatoes, olives, green pepper, broccoli, spinach, nuts and seeds shall not pass his lips. He can't have lettuce or kidney beans. I don't think he really likes beans in general, other than maybe pinto, since he likes Mexican food. I will find out tonight since I am making a bean dish! And quinoa! Hope I won't have spit-out quinoa everywhere, can you imagine picking that up? ) I am not sure how to get protein in him when he doesn't like nuts? And cannot have rice? I did use hemp powder today in a smoothie. He thought it was disgusting. But I kept at him until he drank it, in exchange for a bowl of sea salt, GF chips. Just to mention again, he cannot have rice, oats or soy. Thanks so much, LaDonna, I really appreciate the offer of suggestions! , Gracious Hospitality <gracioushospitality wrote: > > > Does anyone know off the top of their heads if any of the recipes > > might be soy free and rice free, too?
