Guest guest
Last night I made some whole wheat tube shaped pasta. I put enough olive oil on it to keep it from sticking and put the left overs in the fridge. This morning I decided to add some canned red beans and a some cottage cheese to the left over pasta. I reheated it in the microwave with a lid on ( I used a plate to cover the bowl). Yum. It made an nice no fuss breakfast Cheers,Adrianna in Seattle
Guest guest
Hello Adrianna in Seattle ~ I'm new to this group, and so glad to read your recipe. Sounds yummy - and perhaps I can handle it even though cottage cheese alone usually puts me to sleep (literally). So I'd like to try it. But HOW TO FIGURE OUT HOW MUCH COTTAGE CHEESE AND READ BEANS? IF I NEED 28 GRAMS OF PROTEIN.... Alison in NY , Adrianna <greentara1973 wrote: > > Last night I made some whole wheat tube shaped pasta. Guest guest
Hi Allison, Both cottage chees and red kidney beans always have the nutritional information on the side of the container/ can. Check the serving size and the amount of protein for one serving. For example: a half cup (one serving) of red beans has 7g of protein. So if you put in a cup of beans you will get 14g of protein. Do the same math with the cottage cheese and then tinker around with it to get the numbers you want. I agree about the cottage cheese since I am sensitive to dairy. So I shifted it to lean more on the bean side for me personally. But really it is a matter of personal taste and how much protein you are trying to get from one dish.
