Guest guest
Hello, everyone, Thanks for the ideas! I've tried the George's Shake Recipe (using GenSoy pr. Powder), and, though it was a lot to take in, it didn't seem to hold me over for very long. I like the idea of adding a Bannana. I think I'll try that one soon. I work in the night / evenings, so I putt around the house in the mornings... I'm new to all this, but I think one of my realizations is that if I don't have a really **satisfing** breakfast, I'll spend all morning snacking. SO... has anyone here heard of Goetta? It's a Cincinnati thing (Ohio, USA) , supposidly brought over with German Immigrants. It's like a Oat / sassage/ fried thing. I remember it as being so crispy and fattening and delicious... I'm going to stop by Whole Foods after work this morning (8:00am) and pick up the imitation meat and other ingredients to try and make it - Veggie-Style! I hope it'll be a good combo of protein (fake meat) and brown (pinhead oats). I think it's going to be a disaster... the recipes have directions for cooking the " pork shoulder " meat for, like 3 hours in a crock pot (which I don't own), using bacon grease to fry it, etc. but I'm so excited about it anyway! I haven't had goetta in... , I don't know, 10 or 15 years! I think fake meat doesn't really have to be cooked, so I guess, I'll like, boil it... and add some olive oil as subsitute for animal fat... and I don't know. I'll figure it out . (I'm not particularly knowlegalbe about cooking. I'm what my freind would refer to as a " Snickers Vegitarian " -- but working on it ) Any ideas or suggestions for my Goetta? Wish me luck!! -angie b. Guest guest
Shake never worked for me, when I started. I'd absolutely crash a few hours later! But then I learned that I just *really* need more brown. So a shake plus a bowl of oatmeal or some such works fine. You might want to see if that helps... Guest guest
Anne, that was my experience, too Heather There are two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle. --Albert Einstein ________________________________ Anne F <cityladya Mon, January 4, 2010 11:55:24 AM Re: I think I'm going to try making Veggetarian Goetta Shake never worked for me, when I started.
