It's a bit blander in this veggie version than what I remember from childhood, I suppose, but the the texture and consistency is there, and that's great! It may just be the steel cut oats cooked then fried (like hashbrowns), though. I don't think I've ever eaten them in any other context. I sure do like them this way, at the very least!
