Guest guest
You said it, sista! Welcome to the group. I am constantly dragging recipes from this group into a folder, to try later. Even though I tend to use my tried-and-true recipes over and over again, these new ones will be there when I have the energy to experiment. Guest guest
Hi all, I may have said hello before? I know I haven't posted much in the time I've been reading along here since last February. Anyway, I'm Janice (in Maryland) working step 7. Been doing the food a long time slowly, slowly changing from my eating routine from early step 7 to see what makes my body/mind happiest. So it's been almost a year that I've been thinking about going to a more plant-based diet. And I have moved quite a bit in that direction without really trying. Helped along by reading here. By the time the revitilizing class came around I was eating ground turkey, chicken occasionally and fish. As a result of the class I decided to take the next steps and be more mindful that yes I'm doing this. I dropped the poultry which wasn't too hard. Now I'm at having animal protein no more than once a day (dairy, eggs, fish) I'm lucky and grateful to have a low protein range so switching out beans and nuts for the meat in my favorite rice bowls hasn't increased the volume beyond what I can eat although it's close <smile> One interesting thing - I was talking to a co-worker who is also eating mostly vegetarian and mentioned that for 2 days I had eaten all veg - no animal. (wasn't really trying, just worked out that way, lol) She asked " How do you feel? " and it occurred to me that I felt really good. Perky. Better than I had in awhile. so I've filed that info in my journal and am watching to see if there's a pattern. I'm not ready to go all veg yet <smile> but if that experience proves to be consistent then.... Anyway, I have found the ideas and info on the list very helpful during this transition even if I didn't say so at the time Janice
Guest guest
Hi Janice! Nice to meet you. So beautiful to read how mindful your path is as you make choices and eat what is right for you. : ) Janine On Jan 10, 2010, at 11:34 AM, marylandsis wrote: > Hi all, > I may have said hello before? Guest guest
Janice, so nice to hear from you. When I switched to vegetarian eating I did it slowly, too. It seemed to be what my body needed. What kinds of things are you eating for your non animal protein meals? Heather There are two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle. --Albert Einstein ________________________________ marylandsis <janiceinmd Sun, January 10, 2010 2:34:56 PM Saying Hello Hi all, I may have said hello before? I also have been experimenting using pureed beans as a base for soup. 1st try was leftover black eye peas & veg from new years mixed with hummus nearing its expiration date plus enough water to make it soupy. It was quite tasty. Janice Heather Butler wrote: > > Janice, so nice to hear from you. When I switched to vegetarian eating I did it slowly, too. It seemed to be what my body needed. Guest guest
Janice, I love the thought of mixing peanut butter with hot water and tamari for a quick sauce. I will have to try that!
