Guest guest
from the busy cooks site at about.com. Cooking Beans in the Crockpot The easiest way to cook beans for use in other recipes is in the crockpot. Use this basic recipe to cook large quantities of beans and then freeze in recipe-sized amounts in freezer bags so you always have cooked beans on hand. 1 lb dried beans 5 cups water Rinse and drain beans, discarding any foreign matter. Soak beans overnight in enough water to cover by several inches. Rinse and drain. Place soaked beans in a 3 1/2 quart crockpot. Pour in 5 cups water, cover and cook on low for 5 to 7 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours, until desired tenderness. Yield: 5 1/2 to 7 1/2 cups of cooked beans (depends on variety)
