Asafetida and garam masala are both Indian spices. Garam masala is a spice

blend. You should be able to to find them at an ethnic-type grocery store,

gourmet store, farmer's market, store that is well-stocked with spices -- those

kinds of places.

 

As far as the wine substitute, I'm going to post these, although they aren't

crockpot recipes (but can be used in them):
