Guest guest Posted July 14, 2002 Report Share Posted July 14, 2002 Crockpot Barley With Mushrooms And Green Onions 6 servings 1 cup Brown rice 1 cup Barley 6 Carrots, chunked small ½ chopped lb Mushrooms, chopped ½ teaspoon green or garlic spice blend (anyone know what this is??) 4 c Water ½ c cup green onions, chopped Bragg's Aminos or soy sauce or salt to taste Turn on the empty crockpot to high. Saute the carrots and mushrooms until barely tender, transfer to the crockpot. Saute the brown rice until just golden and fragrant. Turn crockpot to low, add the rice, barley and the rest of the ingredients and stir. Cook covered for 4-5 hours on low. Not that I will not adlib on it the 2nd time I make it. Most likley ... the addition of phrik kee noo's and a bit of either curry powder or paset ... or garam masala ..... depending on weather my mood is Thai or India Indian. I also posted it in my wholefood group. Someone there was asking for veg crockpot recipees. Also posted the URL for this group as an earlier reply to her request.
