Date Cornmeal Mush

The Vegetarian Slow Cooker

 

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

2 cups cornmeal

6 cups water

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup chopped dates

1/4 cup brown sugar -- (or date sugar, honey or fruit

concentrate, or more to taste)

1/2 cup chopped toasted walnuts -- (optional)

 

Place cornmeal, water, salt, dates, and sugar in the slow cooker. Cook for 8 to

9 hours on low heat. Stir in walnuts just before serving, if desired.
