Guest guest
Just ignore the nutritional info on this one -- it is *incorrect*. That's because the recipes calls for making extra sesame salt -- all of which is not included in this one recipe. * Exported from MasterCook * Hot Cereal with Sesame Salt (Gomashio) Recipe By :The Vegetarian Slow Cooker, Joanna White Serving Size : 4 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Breakfast & Brunch Cereals The Vegetarian Slow Cooker Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1 3/4 cups steel-cut oats 5 cups water 2/3 cup sesame seeds 4 teaspoons salt Stir oats and water together. Cover and cook on low heat for 8 hours. Roast sesame seeds and salt in heavy skillet over medium heat for about 3 minutes, until seeds become a light golden brown. Using a mortar and pestle or a small electric food grinder, coarsely grind sesame seed mixture, but do not turn it into a powder. It should have a chewy texture. Sprinkle some on your cereal and keep the rest sealed in a glass jar (see Notes section). Source: " MC Formatted by Karen C. If you use cereals other than oats, like muesli or alternate grains, follow package directions on the amount of water needed. The gomashio recipe will make more than is needed for this amount of cereal. Store in a tightly covered container. Nutr.
