Guest guest
I am actually in the nutritionalist program at my college, and yesterday my professor got to the vegetarian/vegan aspect of nutrition. I was very interested in what they would try to tell me is right, she basically said that animal products are the best thing, but if you refuse to eat them, you have to be careful and eat the right combination of foods to get the same nutrition you can get from animal products. I felt better knowing that they did say you can be vegan and healthy, instead of telling the class you have to eat animal products only. So at least at my college they are teaching new things to nutritionalists. However, I would recommend asking a nutritionist what you could add to the recipe to add vitamins to it. The almonds add iron and calcium, but you may want to add some vitamin A, C & D. Beware though... the nutritionist (like any doctor) will try to talk you into giving your daughter cows milk, irregardless of the reason you don't give it to her. You can also try the oatmeal milk; 1 banana 1 cup cooked oatmeal 2 cups warm water 1 teaspoon vanilla Blend all ingredients in blender til smooth. Here's the nutritional info on this one; Vitamin A 3% Vitamin C 16 % Calcium 4% Iron 16% Hope this helps at least some ;-) Dolly _______________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
Guest guest
Hi, All: Though I agree with Steve's general premise of live and let live, his posting below is one of the reasons that I'd agree with the earlier poster about some level of streamlining what we post in this forum; I think we all might have different reasons for being interested in veganism--or crockpots, for that matter--but I don't want to have to scroll through religious dissertations, pictures of people's pets, or any other issues which, though they may be relevant to the poster, are not relevant to what I can put in my crockpot and have waiting for me when I come home from work today. Again, Steve and all, not an objection to the post in particular, just using it as a sample of something I don't have time to go through when looking for recipes. If I want a religious (or political, social, or other ) discussion, I'll find the listserv for that... In this country we have the right to live our life as we see fit as long as we do no harm to others just because someone does not agree with (our or your or there lifestyle does not give us or myself the right to ridecule anyone) I am very sorry that there appears to be some disagreement here. I FEEL that we all should let each one be who we are in GODS eyes, and accept that person for who and where that person is in their life. I feel that everyone is responsible for their own actions, and reactions, both postive and negative whatever that may be. I strongly believe that the only person that I will answer to someday for my life is GOD the FATHER HE is ultimate judge. If I offened anyone I am sorry, but it is how I feel. Everyday I get up and brush my teeth and ask GOD to let me see people how HE sees them, and lately when I brush my teeth at night I have to ask for some forgivness, because I fail, and sometimes I fail miserably, and I am so thankful for HIS grace, and look forward to another sunrise. If I rambled thank-you for your time, as I know how valuable time is, but lets not lose sight for what we are here for.. thank you all Steve

Guest guest
This has made me change my vote from " recipes, cooking, veganism and even off topic discussion " to " Recipes only!
