Guest guest
WOW! I love cranberry apple crisp. I never knew you could make it in a crockpot. And without nuts (which I'm allergic to)! What size crockpot is this for? > > Cranberry Apple Crisp > (adapted from the book Holiday Treats, by Esther Hautzig) > > 2 12-oz bags cranberries, rinsed > 10 or 12 apples, cored & sliced > > 1 1/4 c. whole wheat flour > 1 1/4 c. sugar > 1 c. brown sugar > 1 1/2 c. granola or old-fashioned oats > 2/3 c. oil or 1 1/4 stick butter substitute > > > 1. mix cranberries & apple slices, put half in lg. crockpot. > 2. mix dry ingredients & cut in butter substitute or oil. > 3. sprinkle 1/3 of sugar/flour mixture on fruit in crockpot. > 4. add the rest of the fruit. > 5. spread remaining sugar/flour mixture on top. > 6. cook 3 hours on high. > > Enjoy! > --Hannah
Guest guest
The original recipe was not for a crockpot, but my 17 yo adapted it with a few of my suggestions. You can omit the granola/oats if you don't like them, or add some sugar with the fruit to sweeten it a little. Also, you may want to place a paper towel across the top like I've seen mentioned before, to catch extra moisture so it'll be a little crispier. We used my large crockpot, it's pretty old & I don't know the actual size-- possibly a 6 qt. You could also halve the recipe. We have 7 people in our family and generally have enough for dessert one meal (warm), and breakfast the next day (cold). This recipe was such a hit that we have made it 3 times in the last month, lol. Enjoy! --Hannah > " msbauju " <msbauju > Re: Thanksgiving Recipe (Cranberry apple crisp) > > > WOW! > I love cranberry apple crisp. Guest guest
Ok, I hope no one has tried this recipe & had it fail. I just talked to the 17 yo and she said she wrote down the amounts of flour & sugar wrong. It should say *2 1/4 * c. flour & sugar Sorry for any confusion this may have caused --Hannah > The original recipe was not for a crockpot, but my > 17 > yo adapted it with a few of my suggestions.
