Guest guest
Hi, My name is Barbara and I live in Maine. I just got a new crockpot and I'm looking forward to learning how to use it. I am requesting information on two things: 1) How to make plain black beans (from dried beans)--how to soak, etc. and 2) How to make traditional baked beans from white navy beans (again, how to soak and then also how to make the tomato-based sauce, preferably using honey as a sweetener). I hope that my requests aren't too demanding! Thank you so much, Barbara
Guest guest
Hi ladies! Weekends are usually quieter on these groups. Hopefully, by Monday, someone will help you out. If not, I at least have a lot of baked bean recipes I can sift through, to find one that you'll like. Marilyn Mom of eight VERY interesting kids, and proud grandma-to-be of TWINS! Guest guest
I am also new to the group and can hardly wait for someone to respond to your question. I'm also hoping others will share some more vegan recipes. pearls2525 <pearls25 wrote:Hi, My name is Barbara and I live in Maine. Rinse one pound of black beans, removing any stones or foreign objects. 2. Cover with water, and soak all night. 3. Drain beans and place in crockpot 4. Add enough water to just cover beans. 5. Cover and cook on low 8-10 hours. 6. Season to taste or add to recipe. These instructions should also work for most beans (excepting lentils, split peas, and any other tiny beans). Hope this helps, Susan
