Guest guest
Hi all, I am also new to the list and have been following with interest I just thought I would point out that when you cook any kind of beans in the crockpot, they should be soaked overnight and then boiled vigorously for ten minutes before you put them in the crockpot. This is especially important with kidney beans but applies to all beans. It destroys potentially harmful toxins in the beans, as slow cooking doesn`t bring them up to a high enough temperature to do this. Guest guest
Narayani--Doesn't it have the same results when you bring beans to a boil and then let them sit for an hour? I had always thought so. This sure would be helpful for those of us who don't always think ahead--this could be done in the morning instead of having to remember the night before. Yes? No?
