I ask because I have several bags of dried beans that I've bought over the years and never used--should I keep them for future use? or just throw them out and start over? Over the weekend I cooked up what was left of an open bag of pinto beans that was 3+ years old probably closer to 4 years old. Anyway they cooked up great, and with them I made one of the better spicy bean dips that I have tasted. They looked fine, but at the same time I uncovered some old lentils, and was wondering about them.
