Guest guest
I love the smell of beans cooking...if you have a problem with the scent try making a natural potpourri with citrus and spice...boiling it should help " clear the air! Guest guest
It's interesting the different sensitivies to cooking smells. I love the smell of a nice stew crocking away on a Saturday or the smell after I've been cooking. My Folks on the other hand can't stand obvious cooking smells. I remember growing up we used to visit my Grandparents (Dad's side) who lived in an apartment. My Mom commented that the thing she hated about apartment buildings is you can smell everyone else's cooking. My Dad told me how he went to visit a potential business associate years ago who was originally from India. This Gentleman lived in an apartment were a lot of the residents were also from his background. Anyway, the smell of Indian cooking really bothered my Dad (as I write I have a lovely smell of an Indian flavored stew from Robin Robertson's new crock pot cookbook wafting through my house...yummm...love it! Can't wait until dinner! :-)) Wendy --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Guest guest
I pressure cook all dried beans I use before putting them in any recipe. For black beans, I use 1 c dried black beans to 3 c water and bring to high pressure for 30 minutes. When I cook them in the crockpot or on the stovetop, they don't have as strong a smell.
