Potatoes.... soymilk in soups

1) nope.... you don't add any water to the crockpot to " bake " the

potatoes... surprised me, too.... it's critical you use LOW though (and I

like to fork the potatoes a few times).

 

2) I've never had problems with any non-dairy milk added usually mid-way in

making crockpot " chowdas. " Personally, I like to add a dab or two of soy

margarine at the same time to give it a little 'fat kick.'

 

....if you include a piece or two of kombu (sea vegetable) you'll get a

slight " fishy-type " flavor to the soup. If you add tvp flakes or chunks

earlier on, they will get a " clam " like texture/flavor.
