Guest guest
Hi everyone I found the whole file of these recipes at http://www.vegsource.com/talk/beginner/messages/125685.html I tried the Beefy Seitan recipe as my first ditch attempt and I have to admit I was kind of nervous. Well I fished the seitan out of the crockpot after 6 1/2 hours or so, and it looked frighteningly like a big chunk of beef. I was really really impressed with it, it tasted great, the texture was really good and it really wasn`t much effort with a breadmaker and then slinging it in the slow cooker. Today I am trying the `chicken` and have just put it in the slow cooker. I can`t get veggie chicken style broth here so used garlic and herb stock cubes instead, and poultry seasoning in the seitan itself. (In the beef I used a special thick soy sauce blend in place of the veggie oyster sauce) It smells quite chickeny. So I can recommend the beefy seitan for sure, it worked a treat for me. Hubby ate some straight out of the crockpot for supper, and today I think I will fry some with onions as `steak` and make sandwiches. Guest guest
Question....Did you use the bean flakes, or oatmeal when you made the beef version? If bean flakes, pinto or black? Thanks for this link. Let us know how the chicken recipe comes out. jp " Narayani (dasi) BTS (Guernsey - UK) " <narayani.BTS wrote: Hi everyone I found the whole file of these recipes at http://www.vegsource.com/talk/beginner/messages/125685.html I tried the Beefy Seitan recipe as my first ditch attempt and I have to admit I was kind of nervous.
