that bread thang

I love making my own bread, and have noted the following through trial'n'error:

1) it goes bad faster in warm and humid weather... the multicolored

blotches are a clue.

2) after a few days (sniff test works), put in in the 'frig.

3) after a few more days, put in in the freezer.

It's just not practical, unless you use preservatives, to keep bread for

more than 3 to 5 days.

....and regarding the key unmentioned question about bagels: cut them in

half (length-wise), and put in plastic bag in freezer. They'll toast up

quite nicely (and quickly). I don't know who told me about this, but they

periodically receive good blessings from yours truly.

Oats are a natural preservative. As an added bonus, in my opinion,

they make just about anybread tastier.

Please don't flame me but honey is also a natural preservative. I

know some self-proclaimed vegans who use it and some who don't.

>Have any of you made crockpot bread? Is that

possible? >>am i speaking as a crazy woman?!?! ;)

If you are, you've got company here! I was thinking

that this morning - after having the oven on for bread

last evening. I figured if you can put other wheat

things in the crockpot to cook (seitan, eg) why not.

Though that's not logical, cuz seitan is cooked in

liquid. I know - from this list, I guess - that you

can 'bake' potatoes in a crockpot without using liquid

.. . .

Tell me it wasn't just a dream about the bread. I'd

try it straight away!!!! I see that the folder for

Bread in the files section is empty . . .

Keen to try *lol*
