Sounds Great! For those of us that don't have a pressure cooker - will

soaking the beans in water overnight suffice?

Thanks!

Baked Beans

Baked Beans

Source:  Total Health

3 cups dried navy beans

10 cups water

1 cup tomato sauce

1/3 cup chopped onion

1/4 cup molasses

1 Tbsp. lemon juice

2 tsp. salt, or less

1/2 tsp. garlic powder

Pressure cook beans in water for 10 hour and 15 minutes.  Stir in

remaining ingredients.  Cook uncovered in crockpot for 8 hours on high

setting, or bake uncovered in oven at 300 degrees for 6 hours, or at

350 degrees for 3 hours.  (The slower the better!).  Serves 10.

I don't mean to doubt the cook, but...are we sure that it's TEN hours

and fifteen minutes pressure-cooked, or ONE hour and fifteen minutes.

Pressure cooking for ten hours seems like a lot of time.

Thanks!

it's one hour and fifteen.. according to the recipe.. though even that

SEEMS long to me for a pressure cooker (though i don't have one.. ) I

think i'd try soaking, and maybe boiling on the stove before

crockpotting them.. just to be sure..

it's the baked beans part (the saucy ness) that i wanted to try!

=)

(Likewise, I've *never* found it necessary to pressure cook beans for an hour

and a half (or 10 hours! Ha!) either. I find that simply letting beans get up

to pressure in the cooker, then turning the burner off allowing the pressure to

come down gradually on it's own while I putz around the house often leaves them

cooked through. If not that first time, then following the same procedure

(getting up to pressure, and then simply turning off the heat, allowing a

gradual decrease in pressure) a second time leaves them thoroughly cooked....)

I've made beans in a crockpot and I don't even soak them overnight. 8

hours on high is more than enough. Yum...baked beans go so well in a

crockpot!
