Guest guest
But of course!!! How easy - saves all that time watching and stirring on the top of the stove - and (how about this for a blank of the brain!) I had never never thought that I could make caramelized onions easier and better in the crockpot! Just never thought of it. So thanks thanks Cherrie - A great tip! Best, Pat
Guest guest
I LOVE carmelized onions. I'm sure this would be a much easier way to make them (not that they are difficult, anyway! haha).. cherrie - " veggiehound " <veggiehound Wednesday, June 15, 2005 6:02 AM Re: Caramelized Onions > But of course!!! Guest guest
I have several recipes for French onion soup (some for the crockpot), but they all use beef broth or bouillon. Is there a vegan substitute for this? I suppose a veggie broth would work ok, but wouldn't really have the same flavor. If it's not against list rules (not sure?), I would be happy to post one for " veganizing " . Pam. Hi - fortunately, there *is* a vegan 'beef' flavoured broth, so this might not arise after all. But, for the record, about the 'rules' since you ask, this group's webpage reads, in part: 'No animal products or by-products allowed, this includes meat, fish, dairy, honey, etc.' - which is pretty well what you'd expect, eh? LOL And I too would like the *veganized* recipe! Thanks. Pat
Guest guest
Well, my question was really " Can I post a non-vegan recipe, in the hopes that someone on this fabulous, helpful list will help me make it vegan? " , but I guess I wasn't very clear. I know not to post non-vegan recipes at random, but since there was a mention of crockpot French onion soup, I thought I'd offer what limited help I could. If I had a vegan recipe, I'd share it. Pam.
