Guest guest
I made several batches of apple butter in the crockpot last month to can as holiday gifts, and I added some organic apple juice to help sweeten it. I also added a little brown sugar, but I really don't think it needed it. I cooked the apple butter for about 16 hours on low (first hour or two on high) and it got nice and dark. Take care, Amy On Sunday, January 15, 2006, at 09:16 PM, jeff wrote: > hey there, > this can be made with almost no sugar at all. when we make it we > fill a pot with apples and as we are adding them we sprinkle a little > sugar and alot of cinnamon in layers as we are adding them, then add > just enough water to to get a little steam and keep them from sticking > and cook slowly for a few hours. i do like the crockpot idea and will > definaly have to try that next year. don't forget if you want this to > keep for any time you will have to process in a canner if not i would > use with in a month if in the fridge and you could probably freeze it > also. > peace > jeff > CHERRIE JACOBSEN wrote: > > This looks like it'd be tasty if you could get some vegan sugar or > maybe another vegan sweetner? yum!!
