Chili powder is a blend of spices, and often contains salt. Check the

label on yours.

 

You can substitute a mix of cumin and chile, with a little garlic

powder if you like.

Yep, most of the sodium in our diets comes from processed foods. I have

already deleted the recipe, but if I recall it also had black olives in it

that are very high in sodium. I had a bottle of stuffed green olives...the

sodium in those were so high I ditched the jar.

I don't remember from the recipe if this was suggested, but if you were

using canned beans, would rinsing the beans well first help?

 

Making homemade salsa is really easy and delicious, so that's always an

option too. And the olives could always just be left out!

Rinsing them before you use them helps a lot, too.

I don't do it to lower sodium, I just think they taste a lot better when

rinsed well! :)
