Guest guest
Chili powder is a blend of spices, and often contains salt. Check the label on yours. You can substitute a mix of cumin and chile, with a little garlic powder if you like. , " Sue in NJ " <susang3 wrote: > > > 2014mg Sodium. > > Is this sodium content high? > > Yep, but there are things you can do to bring that count down. Guest guest
Yep, most of the sodium in our diets comes from processed foods. I have already deleted the recipe, but if I recall it also had black olives in it that are very high in sodium. I had a bottle of stuffed green olives...the sodium in those were so high I ditched the jar. linda " Sue in NJ " <susang3 > > 2014mg Sodium. > > Is this sodium content high? > > Yep, but there are things you can do to bring that count down. Guest guest
I don't remember from the recipe if this was suggested, but if you were using canned beans, would rinsing the beans well first help? Making homemade salsa is really easy and delicious, so that's always an option too. And the olives could always just be left out! cherrie On 3/27/06, Sue in NJ <susang3 wrote: > > > 2014mg Sodium. > > Is this sodium content high? > > Yep, but there are things you can do to bring that count down. Guest guest
Rinsing them before you use them helps a lot, too. - Jenni Monday, March 27, 2006 6:38 PM Re: High in sodium Good Question Cherrie... Guest guest
I don't do it to lower sodium, I just think they taste a lot better when rinsed well! cherrie On 3/27/06, Karey Greenup <karey wrote: > > Rinsing them before you use them helps a lot, too. > - > Jenni > > Monday, March 27, 2006 6:38 PM > Re: High in sodium > > > Good Question Cherrie... > > I try to buy canned beans w/o salt.. > > On Mar 27, 2006, at 7:21 PM, cherrie j wrote: > > I don't remember from the recipe if this was suggested, but if you > > were > > using canned beans, would rinsing the beans well first help? > > > > Making homemade salsa is really easy and delicious, so that's > > always an > > option too.
