Guest guest
>Which brand of crock pot cooks very slowly? The *old* ones. I had read recently (past 2 years?) that all the slow cookers are now set at higher temps so they cook faster because the old, cooler ones that were set for lower temps and took longer to cook made foods susceptible to the same problems with bacteria as leaving food out on a table for 8 to 10 hours. Now, I've owned a Crockpot since Rival first introduced them 30 or so years ago, and not once in all that time did anyone in my family ever suffer from food poisoning, nor have I heard about it happening to anyone else. But I guess the companies just want to cover their butts because it *could* happen. Here's an article on slow cooker safety: http://www.ellenskitchen.com/faqs/safecrock.html and a USDA Fact Sheet: http://www.fsis.usda.gov/Fact_Sheets/Focus_On_Slow_Cooker_Safety/index.asp Sue in NJ
