Guest guest
I've spoken/written to many veg cookbook authors about this issue. Some don't mind people posting a few of their recipes, as long as there is full credit given. Others (Joanne Stepaniak is one) really don't like people publishing their recipes (I can get behind her on this; so many of her " not-cheese " vegan recipes are on the 'net, without attribution). Some people think it's fine to change one ingredient, then claim the recipe as their own or not claim anything. Personally, I think that's immoral. There's a " Chef " at " the Internet's largest veg source " that is notorious for doing this. I recommend giving full credit where due, noting " adapted from " etc. if need be. Also, posting a considerable number of recipes from the same author (or worse yet, book), imho, is wrong. I worked with several authors/people pulling together a collection of 150 vegan recipes down to 110 or so (Howard Lyman's, " No More Bull! " ), and even though I wasn't developing the recipes, it was a helluva lot of work. Some of these people put in immense amounts of time creating their recipes and it does bother me, on occasion, to see how cavalier people are about posting so many recipes, in effect, believing they are stimulating sales of a book when that may be the reality. I find myself posting less recipes on lists these days, preferring, instead, to use Search Engines to find what I might be looking for... my own recipes, general approaches, or general approaches (with credit, from others) I'll share (as usual, if time).
