Hello all. My wife and I will be in Hawaii in November and are looking for vegan

restaurants on the Kona Coast. Anyone have any suggestions.

Sincerely,

Aloha Ed....you are soooo out of luck on that one. We live here in

Holualoa and surely have tried every place possible for vegan eating

out. It is just not a very veggie place. Lotus Cafe is very good, they

have local, organic Thai food and can serve vegan when requested with

out the usual detailed discussion. They are a bit pricey depending on

what you are accustomed to. Also Orchid Thai has Vegan options and are

very tasty, they are not organic and I suspect MSG use but have not

quizzed them. Most places have vegetarian options but that seems to

mean covered with cheese, etc. We do have Kona Natural Foods and more

recently an Island Naturals has opened on our side. Both stores have a

pretty good stock for their size, they also both have some daily vegan

deli options. I'll be glad to gather you some more info if you'd like.

Thank you very much this is a good start.  We do travel a lot and finding vegan

options isn't always easy.  Fortunately we'll be staying in a time share with a

kitchen so I'm sure we'll eat in a lot.  I will definately check out the places

you mentioned. If you come across anything else please let me know.

Namaste,

Ed Valentine

Aloha Ed, I forgot to mention Senor Billy's in Captain Cook...they have

a great veggie burrito. Also, I did check with Orchid Thai on MSG use

and they say NO WAY...so they are our new number one choice. Enjoy!

I'm sorry guys, but please can we keep the discussion on the list to vegan

crockpot cooking. there are other lists (may I suggest planet eggplant on

) that are great for other vegan discussion, but i have had

people leave this group whenever discussions like this arise.

Thanks for your understanding,

cherrie, list owner :)
