Guest guest
Hello everyone,I just want to say that it sickens me aswell. When Anji, Anthony,Stan and I visited the farm sanctuary this last fall we got a first hand look at what reseach had done to a magnificent and very friendy pig.It had strips taken from his back and spots burnt into other parts of his skin, just so we the supposedly superior beings could say " gee your hair smells terific " . I would love to change that to " gee your karma looks horrific " .I am deeply ashamed to admit in days gone by when I ate carcass and someone told me they were veg*n I would say 'me to' " cow eats the grass, I eat the cow....vegetarian " .Today if someone thought that would be a witty thing to say, my response would be....'you eat the cow, the cow cloggs your colon, you get colitis suffer a great many years, get colon cancer...and die.' Not a nice or compassionate thing to say but the truth hurts.People often don't do anything untill they are faced with a mortal decision ie; illness or somthing close. We are all very lucky here @ planet vegan, that we have made a decision go from the darkness of ignorance to the light of truth that killing and mayhem to any sentient creature is morally wrong and eating that creature is downright sick. Asfar as dealing with my anger.......I don't know, because all I really feel is sad that it is like this on earth. The point is that it does not have to be this way.I just feel that the old methods of war and violence have so far proven to be inefectual in the long run just look at the world. Peace profound, love and light, Paul Brennan.....human...every now and again. P.S. can someone tell me where a guy can find a stylish pair of animal free size 13 shoes...to go with a suit.p.p.s. once again I ask you to pardon my atrocious spelling. > " Vikas Sharma " <carnival > >< > >RE: just keep talking >Thu, 3 Feb 2000 23:23:33 -0500 > >That video of the lamb being killed was enough to instil enough anger in me >to kill that fucking bastard that slit it's throat ... my heart is my >throat >right now ... if that was a slaughterhouse with people being killed ... we >would all be there ready to burn that slaughterhouse down to the ground. > >I think we all know that. > >I am fucking sick. > > >Vikas Sharma >Director of Operations & Media >Carnival Management > >Web: http://www3.sympatico.ca/carnival >Email: carnival >Phone > > > > >anji b [vegan] >Thursday, February 03, 2000 9:09 PM > >RE: just keep talking > > > " anji b " <vegan > >This is a very complicated issue. Guest guest
This is a very complicated issue. I don't think there is a right or wrong answer. And if there was an answer, there would not still be this ruthless exploitation of nonhuman life. Deep down we all know that violence is not the answer. What's worse - wanton torture, exploitation, and killing - violence against life, or violence against property? I'm not saying it's right, and it's not my personal choice of action, but when I see things like http://www.meatsource.com I feel devastated, defeated, and desperate, and I can relate to the anger. I can't help it. Terrorism is not people's first choice, people are driven to it. It's like Plan B. Walking into a fur shop and saying " Please stop killing animals " doesn't do it. They don't give a shit, but if you affect their bottom line they listen, they may not start caring but they listen. But direct action is not my schtick. As far as I'm concerned people can do what they want as long as noone gets hurt. What I hate to see is people in the movement wasting time disagreeing about stuff (or worrying about Vitamin D for that matter). Let's talk about what we can do and are doing. What we can all agree to do is talk to people about what's really going on in the world, and why we're veg*ns. We can talk about colon cancer, factory farms, feedlot runoff, and ethics. We can talk about how great we feel, how we care about the environment, how amazing pigs are, whatever. We have a lot to talk about, and a lot of people don't know what we know. Direct action or not, to eat honey or not, to wear leather or not... forget about it. Just keep talking. Tell people what you know. If people accuse you of preaching, screw'em. You're raising awareness. Don't be shy, talk to your family about their health, ask your coffee shop for soymilk, show your friends pictures from slaughterhouses, lend/recommend books... Just do it. Inspire people to reconsider their food choices the way that you were inspired. I don't endorse bombing things, but I don't endorse sitting on our asses either. So get out there and tell 'em what the hell's going on. -anji The whole concept of " by > any means necessary " is a massive load of shit, and opens the doors wide for > lawlessness and mass coruption of whatever the original goal was.It is very > hard for me to get behind any zealot attitude whether > political, moral, religious, animal rights or otherwise. Guest guest
That video of the lamb being killed was enough to instil enough anger in me to kill that fucking bastard that slit it's throat ... my heart is my throat right now ... if that was a slaughterhouse with people being killed ... we would all be there ready to burn that slaughterhouse down to the ground. I think we all know that. I am fucking sick.
