Hi Mary Ann!

My name is Vik ... and I have been a member of Planet Vegan since it's

inception (it was started by my friend Anji) ...

First of all, on behalf of all of us at Planet Vegan, I wanted to say how

proud we are of your decision to change your diet. It's a

true life commitment to the planet, those with which we share the planet,

and to yourself and your friends and family.

I have been a vegetarian for 13 1/2 years, and a vegan for 9 1/2, and I know

I will be one for the rest of my life.

Do you have a lot of contacts and/or resources in Missouri? Are you in

Kansas or St. Louis, or a smaller city?

Are you going vegan full out from the start? That's very ambitious and we

will support you any way possible!

It's amazing that you are getting your kids into at this point in their

lives, as most parents, my own included, didn't set a great

example for eating and nutrition for their kids.

I find that when I was detoxing from meat, I actually felt better, lighter

and people noticed weight loss immediately ...

All the best and welcome to the mail list .. I hope it is as resourceful

for you as it has been to me ... Anji posts lots of great

information on the Animal Rights community ... we have discussions (some of

them have been quite heated, but healthy none-

the-less) ... and we do local social functions (here in Toronto) ...

Take care,

Vik

Hi Vik! I feel like we're at an AA meeting... " My name

is Mary Ann...hi Mary Ann!! " LOL Just kidding :)

Thank you so so much. It's hard when family is not

supportive. My husband thinks I buy too much " health

food crap " (his words) and that I am becoming " a

hippie " ARGH. My brother was vegan for like 2 years

and has recently began eating meat again. My mom was

so thrilled she took a picture of him eating

Thanksgiving turkey. I am almost afraid to tell her I

am going vegan because of all the hell she gave my bro

when he went vegan. I don't know why she (and others)

care so much what *I* eat!!

Thank you, I really needed that :)

I'm in St Louis...I'm not really sure about the

" scene " around here...

Yep, I am going for it right away! I find it hard to

eat dairy or especially meat once I have decided I

don't want it anymore. Blech :)

I haven't so far :( They eat way too much fast food

and I let them have way too many sweets. I hope it's

not too late to change!!

I feel lighter too...cleaner.

Awww, I wish I were in Toronto! Anyway, I am glad I

found you all. Have a good one!!
