Guest guest
That's a tough one ... once they have been used to that way of life ... I think, the way to do it, is explain why YOU changed your eating habits ... If you talk about the ethical aspect, I think the kids will relate to that very well ... kids can be a lot more compassionate than grown ups (generally speaking) ... and if you tell them about the sadness and pain involved in a " happy " meal ... I think they will see the picture much more clearly. In so far as the junk food is concerned ... I don't know ... my mother didn't keep a lot of that around ... but, I think more along the same lines as above ... if you explain why you are changing your diet ... (from the health perspective) ... it may take a little while longer ... (I think kids will take more heart to the " killing of the food " argument when you talk about meat eating, but may have a little more trouble understanding the " health aspect " when you talk about eating less junk food) ... For food ideas .. check out Anji's recipe page ....http://www3.sympatico.ca/anji/recipes.html there's tons of info on veganism and food ideas there. Health food will continue to be expensive until more people buy the stuff .. hey, look at Soya milk .. used to be 3 bucks a litre .. now I can get it for $1.79!!!!! more people drinking soy, means more soy milk production, means decrease costs for mass production ... Guest guest
I have a four year old and a 2 1/2 year old and I have found that being honest with my children in regards to what they are eating has been the best route. My 4 year old understands what he is eating when eating pepperoni pizza and corndogs because of what I have told him. So far he has preferred not to eat his animal friends. I know if I had known the truth from the time I was a child, I probably would've been Vegan or at least Vegetarian since then. Another reason for cutting out dairy products is because of my son's congestion and asthma. My son's diet consists of Soy or Rice milk and tofu cheese sandwiches. He was a very picky eater even before we became Vegetarian. --- Vikas Sharma <carnival wrote: > " Vikas Sharma " <carnival > > That's a tough one ... once they have been used to > that way of life ...
