Guest guest
The exercise thing........yes something I've been meaning to do for years. Maybe now's the time.I don't think I need to loose weight.I need to shape the flab.Where oh where do I summon the discipline. On another topic,if any of you are travelling around North America there is an excellent book published by the Avery Publishing group. The book is the Vegetarian Journal's Natural Foods Restaurants in the U.S. and Canada. It has location, style and a quick review.Other info like vegan friendly, organic food and a price code are included,it also has a list of vegetarian vacation spots, bed and breakfasts and retreats. For me as I travel for work often, this book has come in very handy.Last year at thanks giving I found myself in Halifax N.S. Hungry and homesick {queue violin music] So I found in the book the Satisfaction Feast vegetarian rest. and had a vegan thanks giving meal that had harvest pie, butternut squash, soup and vegan gravy.I was happy. Also if any of you are looking for milk substitutes the Vegetarian Journal has a big review of some available products. After reading it I went and bought some oat " milk " and I liked it a lot.Although the diary industry might try to sue me for uttering the word milk in the same sentence as oats. Guest guest
Hey Folks ... on the weight loss thingy ... well, I have tried a lot of different things in this area ... and it seems that changing my diet to compliment my lifestyle for that day is crucial ... for example, if I am having a day off and I am not that active ... well, then I lay off the carbs ... if I am going to work, and I know I won't eat all day, I will bulk up on the carbs, some protein and then I know I will work it off at work ... Another thing .. I have recently started conditioning my body by working out pretty regularly (3-4 week) and I have lost about 10 pounds in the past 6 weeks ... I feel better, and it's really good for your ticker ... I can pull off an hour of solid Cardiovascular exercise no problem ... I think that exercise is the major factor lacking from our daily schedules ... if you have a family, make it a family thing ... don't get your kids in the rut of " non-exercise. " It doesn't have to just be killing yourself with cardiovascular exercise, it could be doing some yoga stretching (which makes me sweat like crazy), playing a sport you dig (badminton is my sport), doing some sit ups or crunches, anything ... get out there, take a walk, do something ... but our diet alone does not make us " healthy. " I agree with Paul along the lines of the " healthy mind, healthy body " ... I know that a lot of Yogis and Monks think that all this crazy exercise stuff is useless ... but the level at which their minds are " sound " is at a higher level than where most of us are at ... however, if you can transcend to that level of spiritual enlightenment, then by all means, all of that exercise stuff is unnecessary ...
