Guest guest
I just found out that i've been using 'dairy' on my face!!!! mac skin treatments contain 'lactic acid'(although less than .1 %), which is a 'syntheticly or naturally derived milk protein.' the good news is that a whole new skin traetment line launches in may and lactic acid is not being used. i was surprised to find out that mac uses this ingredient as i was under the understanding that the only animal by-products used in the products were beeswax and caramine. i guess i have to make a decision about this...i thimk it falls into the 'leather' category or the 'whey' category, both of which i moderately indulge in.... anyway i thought you all should know so that you can make your own decisions, and so that i might prompt further intrest into commonly used cosmetic ingredients....although in canada it is not mandatory to have ingredient listings on products...at least mac does this!!! and at least they are truely cruelty free (in terms of product and ingredient testing as well as supply and ingredient purchasing...mac also continues to inform its suppliers of alternatives to animal testing. i think i'm trying to convince myself!! i have trouble with the whole leather issue, etc. any input? i WANT to live a totally cruelty free existence (i've been a vegan for 9 years and actually did give up leather for 4 years) but is it possible....? and what about medicine testing on animals? i take medicines!!! and what about psychological tests (VERY cruel) ? i see a shrink.... i think i'll just kill myself now! bobby
Guest guest
Hey Bobbie ... The only thing we can do, is do our best. From what you wrote ... I think most of us can agree that you do more than most other people care to do. Others are always quick to criticize us, so as to hold up to this plateau of perfection. I mean, I think there is gelatine in Video tapes ... so, unless Nadine stops renting all those pornos, even she isn't a TRUE vegan!! The Leather Issue? Hmm, I try and stay away from it myself ... I have some wool suits that I have had for a very long time ... leather shoes? I have one pair of leather shoes (which I wear maybe once a year or something) all my runners and belts and jackets don't have a stitch of leather in them ... my shoes at work might be leather (I asked, and they said they weren't, and usually shoes have tags when you buy them ... these ones didn't have that Leather Upper logo on it anywhere) ... but, again, I think the best we can do is let people know we are trying to change the world and let them know that you aren't some sort of philosophical figure (Gandhi) who has found the ultimate truth and will stick to it, even if it means you will die. Also tell people that you are a DIETARY VEGAN only. That will shut them up. Others will always find the imperfections in your quest for truth, because they are insecure about their lack of effort. It makes them look (and maybe even feel) bad that you do something, and they do nothing. Medicine? It's a choice ... I think if I found out I had cancer, I would probably just die. It's easy to say that now .. but, put in the actual situation, I might choose differently. It's how you feel about it. I try to eat as well as possible and live healthy, so I don't become sick.. I think about NOT being sick every single day, and it works. Anyway ... ciao for now ... Guest guest
Bobby, I have to agree with Vikas. You can't beat yourself up too much. I've spent 29 years trying to find the best products for my skin etc. only to find out that my favorite powder is made by Proctor and Gamble *Ugh* I haven't given up vanity just yet and it will probably be the hardest thing ever. I'm just trying to do the best with what I know and educating myself more and more each day. I will be finding an alternative powder (if its out there). The porn was ahem, " someone ELSE'S " who is on THIS LIST who shall remain nameless...geesh Vik- really.... as for gelatin ew... as for perfection: hey, Anthony told me a really cool thing once. If there is no alternate than you're stuck but at least you are aware- but if there is an alternative than do the humane/vegan alternative. You are still vegan- to me its about compassion...living as aware as we can be. Peace, Bliss P.S. I really dont watch porn videos!!! Only at brunch with YOU Vikas!!!
