Staff members were using antibiotics and feedings every two hours to control the outbreak. " They are continuing to improve, " Bill Hughes, a vice president at the theme park 20 miles southeast of Cleveland, said Tuesday. An examination of the dead animals found that their illness was colitis, an inflammation of the large intestine. Lab test results due in several weeks might help determine how they got sick, Hughes said. The group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals said dolphins and whales in captivity are prone to stomach- and stress-related diseases. " They are taking a sensitive animal and confining it to the equivalent of a bathtub, " said PETA spokeswoman Lisa Lange in Norfolk, Va. http://www.cnn.com/2000/NATURE/03/22/dolphindeaths.ap/index.html -- _____________ Free email services provided by http://www.goodkarmamail.com powered by OutBlaze
