Guest guest
Thank you all for your advice- I am trying to have a balanced diet and I don't want to let my cravings lead me in the wrong direction, as in eating whatever vegan junk food I can. I will let you guys know if I see a major change in my weight. I did not become vegan to lose weight, but I will not complain if I lose a few. Alicia- I will look for that soy milk. I had bought some soy milk and it actually made my throat kind of dry. I was hoping that I would like it a lot, but I was kind of disappointed. I recently got a rice milk and will try that also. I was not a huge milk drinker before I became vegan, but I did love cheese. I am so mad that when I looked at the cheese that I thought was all soy actually had casein in it. It was so misleading on the cover. I am now very precautious about checking ingrediants. Talk with you all soon and thanks again -Katie
Guest guest
Dear Katie, I just joined this list today myself, and am not hearing from anyone who is talking from a diet like mine. Today for instance, I haven't eaten anything that would even have an ingrediants list. That is I eat lots of raw vegies, and nuts at present, and some fruit also. That's most of it. But I do get cravings: I LOVE sweet red bell peppers. Yum. I could eat a dozen a day I think, if I had them. And I love cilantro...GREENS by the way are a great way to get calcium and other minerals. Personally I have a lot of trouble finding good produce. This isn't really a problem to be solved at grocery stores or even farmers markets...we need to have vegi/fruit gardening be as much a focus of our yards and parks as lawns are at present. I do think starting a lot of gardens (with " help yourself " signs) would be a good way to help others to transition to a healthy and kinder diet. I would like to think of this kind of eating style as " garden foraging " . Instead of going to the restaurant, you stroll through the park, or around the block, nibbling. A little more about me...I am staying in Wisconsin (near Milwaukee) USA, and planning to buy a van very soon in which I will travel to seek more opportunity to live healthy, and to maybe, I hope, help others to find housing and grow gardens. I am interested in building tent cities or tent communities to help with these issues, and hope to find other vegan nice people who want to help as well. Or perhaps I will find some other venture already happening in which to join in...Well, these are the things I am thinking of. joannebaek Talk to your friends online with Messenger. http://im. Guest guest
Joanne, I love your ideas! I would like to eat more 'raw', but I have trouble getting enough cals that way. I always feel hungry after a 'raw' day. How do you do it? Guest guest
why souldn't we mix protein with carbs? Don't high-protein foods already have naturally a fair ammount of carbs? -Belle ____ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

How > do you do it? > > Linda > Hmmm Linda, I can't really answer this yet...my life is really erratic, and so I don't really have a day to day that can be described. I can't even really generallize. This is another day that I haven't eaten anything but nuts, red peppers, and pears. I had about four red bell peppers, but never got around to making the other raw vegies cause I was on the go. But I had more than the ideal amount of nuts (almonds and pecans)...I am very frustrated becasue the local produce mart has only waxed/oild pepers now...so much for eating things without an ingrediants list. Today would not be an example of a good diet. But to answer you anyway. (That is I am going to tell you how I ended up eating mostly raw vegies, not how I do it presently.) I used to make a big bowl of steamed greens (maybe kale, parsley, collards, beet greens...depending on availability) for breakfast, with maybe flax oil and maybe flax seeds, lecithin...then I started adding raw greens on the side--parsley, cilantro...eventually I ate a bunch of parsley instead, maybe with some seeds, I forget...maybe a carrot or two? Anyway the bowl of raw veg started later in the day as a snack for my mom, and then I just kept eating more and more red bell peppers...can't get enough of em, sort of anyway...I mean I really like them and find them very satasfiying. So in the past weeks I have been bringing these big bowls of raw veg to the computer and have munched away while computing. Mostly it seems fine, IF I make enough and was able to get enough from the store. When I eat cooked food, its cooked squash mostly, sometimes some other veg. I almost missed this letter...I am going to have to see if this list is available on digest as I have about 100 unread mail and its likely to get worse at present. If I see the list name, I am presently skipping over in favor of private emails, mostly. I really want to get involved in vegan gardening somewhere, either community gardens or something where the food is for everybody... Okay, later...if I ever catch up... joanne Talk to your friends online with Messenger. http://im.
Guest guest
I'd like to see more discussion and fewer " alerts " . My reasons? (1) No one has time to do much about so many alerts. (2) There are lists devoted entirely to alerts. Why not join them? (3) Aren't at least SOME of these lists supposed to be for discussion or for pertinent information about the vegan lifestyle, not entirely about one particular aspect of vegan philosophy (which has nothing to do with food)?
