Guest guest
When I saw John Robbins this past weekend, I picked up his new book. He writes extensively about women's health and our particular issues - such as menstruation (he advises us NOT to use tampons at all -- ) , menopause, birth control, etc. He made me think about my health as a woman a little differently. I don't want to be graphic here, but I had already been doing the tampon thing organically and his book made me remember why we have this cycle in the first place! To renew ourselves (physically and figuratively) every month. It's a great book to pick up if you can. It's called " Reclaiming Our Health " and the ISBN is: 0-915811-68-3. If you have questions about health concerns (especially how veganism can affect change in your health), I highly recommend this book!! Guest guest
Just some womanly info for the female rs. I use INSTEAD in place of Tampons. The whole asbestos thing in tampons freaks me out and I never did like them. More info on INSTEAD is at http://www.softcup.com/frontpage.html Alyssa " S.G. Guest guest
I've had the book for a long time (it came out on hardback awhile ago), but I never got around to reading it...I will now. I would never go back to tampons now. I stopped using birth control pills a couple years ago, but I'm having trouble finding a birth control method I can feel good about. I order condoms from Pangea (the store I mentioned earlier) because they carry a brand I know is vegan, but I think condoms are only around 80% effective. I don't like the hormone manipulation in most of the more effective methods. What's a person to do? Holiday, Glad Rags are reusable menstral pads. See website http://www.emagazine.com/marketplace/mkt_gladrags.html They even come in organic cotton. You can buy cloth pads through http://hometown.aol.com/NatuMother/MommiesToo.htm or http://www.thebabylane.com/gladrags.htm has clay pots to soak them in.
