Guest guest
hi everyone; i want to offer some help to all of you regarding several of your messages about vegan products, animal testing, etc..... first a few points: 1.animal tests to determine product safety on personal or household products are conducted to protect companies from litigation, not to determine product safety. 2.there are humane alternatives to EVERY different type of animal test that is conducted, and they are actually MORE accurate in determining safety. 3.companies in canada are NOT required to print ingredients on thier products. u.s. companies are. 4.the companies that conduct animal testing do NOT research treatment for adverse reactions to thier products or ingredients or consult with doctors or hospitals on results....the end result of thier findings is a simple " index of toxicity " which only serves as protection in court or to determine what warnings to print on products. Anyway, Mac cosmetics is an awesome choice for all of you humane people for the following reasons: 1. MAC has NEVER conducted tests on animals. 2. MAC doesn't buy ingredients from suppliers that have been animal tested 3. MAC has always educated it's ingredient suppliers on alternatives to animal testing, and continues to do so. 4. MAC's make-up brushes are made from naturally sheared animals that are protected by S.I.T.E. international.(i don't know much about this company, actually but maybe some of you do?) 5. MAC is mostly vegan....the only animal by-products used are: beeswax lactic acid (this can be derived synthecially OR naturally- i have found out that MAC uses both types...ie some batches can be from milk, others not...the good news is that it's only used in skin treatments, and only less than .1%.also, the current skin care line has been discontinued, with a new line coming out on Aug 17...the new products DO NOT contain lactic acid. caramine (red pigment derived from coccus cacti insect) 6.MAC lists all of its ingredients on the packaging. 7.MAC has an excellent customer service team(1 800 387-6707) that WILL give you answers to any questions or concerns that you have. 8.MAC has some excellent programs: the mac aids fund -has donated approx 20 million dollars to date to organizations that assist people living with hiv. the money goes to people, NOT TO RESEARCH! the recycling program -mac offers a 'free lipstick' to it's customers for recycling six plastic containers from thier products. MAC takes them back and ensures that they are sent to recycling facilities.also, MAC refuses to use ingredients that are known to be harmful to the environment, even if this compromises quality...ex. toluline(sp) is commonly used in nail polishes and serves to prevent chipping and increase staying power...MAC doesn't use it because it is not environmentally friendly on the down side(so that you can all make your own decisions) MAC has appointed two new spokespeople for the MAC aids fund...Mary J. Blige and lil' Kim...these two people are huge fur advocates! BUT it is in thier contract that they are not to wear fur when officially representing MAC (and again, they are STRICTLY spokespeople for the aids fund, not for the COMPANY!) I have worked for MAC for 8 years and have toured the manufacturing facilities and spoken to MANY people at the top, and believe me when i say that we are FAR ahead of most of our competitors when it comes to morals and integrity. We are not PERFECT,but as we all have struggled personally with deciding how far we go in making humane choices and have discovered (i have) that it is impossible to BE perfect,MAC is doing really well! love, bobby xoxo
Guest guest
The Mac products sound good. Especially if we can get them completely vegan. Where can they be purchased? Thanks - Katie
Guest guest
Aveda rocks! I think Aveda stuff is the best smelling and they give me a good feeling ... it's all I use at home. They are a pro-animal and environmental company ... I worked for the distributor for Aveda in Canada for a little while. Aveda's make up sucks big ones, though. But I have to say, Mac makes the best make up I have ever seen ... I love the colours!!! Their nail polishes rock! and I love their lipsticks!!! Guest guest
Bobby- I live in Maryland so I will check my nearest Nordstroms. I looked at a Canada website, but I will try and see the products firsthand to make a better decision. Thanks -Katie
