Guest guest
I'd like to welcome all the new members! Again, it's great to have so many amazing, intelligent, and compassionate individuals participating. The support I see for each other on the list is incredible... I know that there are a few 'old timers' on the list who are feeling a bit overwhelmed by the recent rapid increase of the volume of email so I would just like to take this opportunity to make a few friendly suggestions/reminders. These are standard email list guidelines, in fact paraphrased from other sites. I included some links to other guidelines so that you know that I'm not just some cranky list-manager making up rules. I just want everyone to be happy and to get as much out of the list as possible. Thank you for your cooperation! ---> Please try to stay on topic. The list is for sharing thoughts, ideas, questions, recipes, news, events etc. relating to animal rights and veganism. Veganism can be a broad topic and it sometimes seems that it relates to everything, however I'd like to keep it as close as possible to the " big three " vegan topics - ethics, health, and environment. ---> We share this list with approximately 65-70 other rs who are here to talk about animal rights and veganism. Take a moment to think about your post. Is it something list members would be interested in, or would it be best to send your post privately? Comments like " cool " , or " thank you " , or " that sucks " are better off sent to the person intended to read them. We need to keep the list streamlined as it benefits all of us. ---> When replying to a post, please, please trim your emails. Re-send a few summarizing lines of the original message so the reader will know immediately what you are talking about. Do not re-send the entire original message, especially if it is long, as it might be unwanted by the receiver and an unnecessary burden for many servers. This means delete everything you are not responding to, including especially all that extra stuff that Onelist includes at the bottom. ---> Make subject lines descriptive. People should get an idea of your message from glancing at the subject line. " Hi " is not as good as, " Consumer Reports Finds 71% of Store-Bought Chicken Contains Harmful Bacteria " , for example. ---> As a courtesy please do not send: chain letters, virus warnings, hoaxes, urban legends, attachments, flames or harassment, off-topic advertising messages etc. ------------------ http://www.herald.co.uk/local_info/rules_thumb.html http://email.about.com/compute/email/msub32.htm http://kidexchange.about.com/kids/kidexchange/library/weekly/aa032699.htm http://www1.sympatico.ca/Contents/Computers/features/newuser_emailresources.html http://www.albion.com/netiquette/corerules.html http://www.cybear.austin.com/maininfo1/guide1.html http://itech1.coe.uga.edu/itforum/Netiquette.html http://www.gweep.bc.ca/~edmonds/usenet/ml-etiquette.html -- _____________ Free email services provided by http://www.goodkarmamail.com powered by OutBlaze
