(CP) - A slaughterhouse worker was accidentally shot and seriously injured Wednesday when a steer kicked up a fuss about being butchered. The 35-year-old employee from Clifford, Ont., was attempting to kill the steer with a gun at about 1:30 p.m. when the animal reared and knocked the gun into the man's stomach. The gun went off. Police and paramedics were called to the Better Beef plant and the man was taken to Guelph General Hospital, where he was admitted and underwent exploratory surgery. His name wasn't immediately released. Police said Wednesday night his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening. The Ministry of Labour is investigating.
