Guest guest
THE SECRET IS OUT! Victoria's Secret continues to support the killing of animals that are gassed, trapped or anally electrocuted for fur. Over 40 million animals are killed each year for greed and vanity and we must ACT NOW! The executives at Victoria's Secret have lied to us and then ignored our letters and phone calls. We must demonstrate to them that we are not going to surrender our efforts until they are FUR-FREE. Please contact Victoria's Secret and ask them to stop selling fur products. They must hear from you. Sharon Jester-Turney Victoria's Secret Direct 3425 Morse Crossing Columbus, OH 43219 614.337.5576 (no email was available) Please distribute this action alert. Guest guest
Please contact Victoria's Secret and ask them to stop selling fur products. They must hear from you. Here is the letter I sent: Sharon Jester-Turney May 10, 2001 Victoria's Secret Direct 3425 Morse Crossing Columbus, OH 43219 USA Dear Ms. Jester-Turney; I understand that Victoria’s Secrets is presently selling fur. Please stop that. Please make use instead of the many excellent quality faux-fur textiles as required for your line. Please promote this as a desirable and responsible choice because of being cruelty-free, generally more affordable and much easier care. I understand that business is your bottom line, and that there is pressure on you to sell what people will buy. At the same time, I think we do have to make decisions in life about how to conduct our business, and traffic in the skin of butchered animals is going too far. Please amend your policy on this matter. By mounting a delicate and direct educative effort, your clients can be made aware of the importance to them personally of supporting Victoria’s Secrets in abandoning the selling of fur. You can present the change with self-effacing pride and joyful gratitude for now being able to move on from having to sell items generated from cruelty and the abuse of life. Sure, fashions go in waves and cycles, but some fashions fall out of the cycle for good reason. The wearing other animal’s skin is one of which I think we are letting go. In my opinion, wearing the skin of other animals is on a similar level as the binding of women’s feet. It was a pervasive fashion at a time and took many generations for the people to understand the wastefulness and excessive cruelty of the practice. It was against some resistance that gradually it was abandoned. It seems we humans get attached to habits of thought, and it can take courage to embrace new ones. Like with the abandonment of foot-binding, I think it is worth the effort. If your clients presently buy fur, I think for the majority, it is only because they have yet to be made aware of what they are actually buying. I think the majority of people are fair and kindly minded, when they have the information they need to make informed choices. By presenting your revised policy to the public in an appropriately smooth and classy way, you enhance your company’s image by showing that Victoria’s Secrets cares enough to do business ethically. AND you raise the consciousness of the public. Gaining respect and therefore popularity with the public requires more than just giving them what they will buy. I think it requires also giving them something that makes them feel good. Guest guest
I sent an email once long ago and received no reply. However, I have looked all through their catalogs and web site, and have never been able to find any thing with fur in it. Can anyone please tell me where the fur is, I believe they sell it, I have heard of this practice from many reliable sources, but I don't want to send another letter unless I can refer to something I have seen.
