**Please try to personalize the letter below and avoid

sending it " as is. " One of the Council Members wrote

to me stating that the only reason people care the cow

was killed is because they are " jumping on the

bandwagon. " It is very important that they receive

individual letters.**

SAMPLE LETTER:

Dear Mayor Moore, Mayor Pro Tem Simonoff, Ladies &

Gentlemen:

Please add my voice to those who oppose the

slaughtering of a cow which took place at the Carbon

Canyon Christian School on May 17, 2001.

According to a newspaper report, a two-year-old steer

named T-bone that had been raised at the school was

slaughtered Thursday in front of students for

" educational " purposes. Authorities have stated that

the school may have violated several city laws. Brea's

City Planner David Crabtree is quoted as saying, " The

zoning at that property doesn't provide at all for the

keeping or slaughtering of livestock. "

This so-called " valuable learning experience " was

highly misleading in that it failed to educate

students about the conditions found on today's modern

factory farms. If the point was to educate students on

how a " food " animal is slaughtered, the school should

have brought them to a slaughter house and shown them

how it's really done. I suggest you read the series of

articles in the Washington Post titled " They Die Piece

by Piece. " You can read it online:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/nation/specials/food/A60798-2001Apr9.html

I demand a full investigation of this incident. If the

school has broken any city, county, or state laws, I

request that the participating school employees be

charged and that you seek the maximum penalty. I also

suggest that humane education be included in the

school curriculum, as opposed to slaughtering animals.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I look

forward to your reply.

Sincerely,

cc: Carbon Canyon Christian School
